Finding Research Positions in Japan: A Complete Guide to JREC-IN Portal for PhD Students(8/28)

*This event is recommended for participation by EXEX Doctoral Fellowship students. (However, no curriculum points will be awarded.)
Many international PhD students who wish to continue their careers in Japan face the same question:
“Where can I find job opportunities that match my research background?”
While there are many job websites designed for international students, most are intended for undergraduate and master’s students rather than PhD graduates. Moreover, many positions neither require doctoral-level expertise nor are accessible without advanced Japanese language proficiency (typically JLPT N1 or N2), despite being advertised on websites for international students.
As a result, international PhD students—especially those with strong research achievements but limited Japanese language skills—often struggle to identify suitable career opportunities.
Fortunately, JREC-IN Portal provides a valuable alternative. As Japan’s only nationwide academic and research career portal, it offers a wide range of positions from universities, public research institutes, and companies seeking highly skilled researchers.
Whether you are aiming for academia or industry, this workshop will help you learn how to use JREC-IN Portal effectively to find research positions and take the next step toward your research career in Japan.
Contents
This Workshop includes;
✓ Understand the Japanese research job market
✓ Search research positions together using JREC-IN Portal
