Participant comments

  • I was able to learn in detail about a variety of things, including the process of becoming a university professor, how to spend your time, and academic careers at public research institutions.
  • To begin with, there is little information available because few people go on to doctorates, and it is even more difficult to obtain information for those going into academia. Nevertheless, we were able to receive a detailed explanation not only about careers but also about maintaining a living.
  • I think I have a clearer understanding of the specific steps to enter academia and what I need to do to get there. I was also reminded of the rigors of academia, which was a humbling experience.
  • I liked that it gave concrete examples of how to earn a living after postdoc.
  • It was helpful in deciding when to start job hunting.
  • It was helpful to learn that there are jobs other than research available when I became a professor at a university, and how easy or difficult it is to change careers.
  • Thank you for your easy-to-understand explanation. I found it very helpful that you mentioned career paths, especially how to make a living in the early stages of your career.
