"SynFOSTER 2012" was held!
On Thursday, January 26th, the "Young Talent Development Symposium 'SynFOSTER 2012'" was held at Conference Hall.
This symposium has been held since 2008 with the aim of gathering together the human resource development initiatives being implemented at our university, deepening further understanding and collaboration among those implementing these projects, and also promoting our university's human resource development activities both inside and outside the university. This marks the fourth time the symposium has been held.
The first part of the symposium featured keynote speeches by Mr. Shuichiro Itakura, Director of the Fundamental Policy Division, Science and Technology Policy Bureau, Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, and Mr. Osamu Kumagai, Executive Officer and Director of the Advanced Materials Laboratories at Sony Corporation, as well as a panel discussion titled "The Current State and Future of the Tenure Track System at Hokkaido University." The second part introduced Hokkaido University's efforts in attractive university education, and the third part featured a poster session, which also served as a networking event, on the human resource development projects being carried out at Hokkaido University. A total of 128 people participated in the symposium, including 13 external participants from eight institutions.
The third part of the event was a poster session, in which participants gave short talks about approximately 30 projects related to human resource development being carried out at our university, and there was lively exchange of opinions and information sharing among the participants. The event ended with great success, and has made a significant contribution to the construction of our university's unique, consistent human resource development system.
