On Friday, January 25, 2013, the "Young Talent Development Symposium 'SynFOSTER 2013'" was held at Hokkaido University Conference Hall.

This symposium was held for the fifth time since 2008, with the aim of bringing together all the human resource development initiatives being implemented at our university, deepening further understanding and collaboration among those implementing these projects, and also promoting Hokkaido University 's human resource development activities both inside and outside the university.

The theme of this symposium was "Developing global leadership talent from a society's perspective," and the first part of the event featured keynote speeches by Toshiya Naito, Director of the Specialized Education Division, Higher Education Bureau, Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, and Takeru Sato, Senior General Manager of the Human Resources Department at Bosch Corporation, as well as a panel discussion featuring Hokkaido University alumni and current students with extensive overseas experience.

The second part introduced the university's appealing educational initiatives, and the third part featured a poster session related to the human resource development projects being carried out at the university, which also served as a networking event. Approximately 25 poster exhibitors gave short talks, and participants actively exchanged opinions and shared information.

The symposium was attended by a total of 140 people, including 19 external participants from 15 institutions, and ended with great success, making a significant contribution to the construction of our university's unique, consistent human resource development system. We would like to once again express our gratitude to everyone who provided their consideration and cooperation in hosting this symposium, even though it was held online.
