"SynFOSTER 2014, a symposium for developing young talent" was held!

The "SynFOSTER 2014" Symposium on Nurturing Young Talent was held at Hokkaido University Conference Hall on Thursday, January 30th, 2014.
The purpose of this symposium is to bring together all the people in charge of human resource development initiatives at our university, deepening their understanding and collaboration among these initiatives, and to promote Hokkaido University 's human resource development activities both inside and outside the university. This symposium has been held continuously since 2008, and this year marks the sixth time it has been held.
The theme of this year's symposium was "Industry-Academia Collaboration and the Development of Highly Skilled Human Resources." After opening remarks from President Yamaguchi, the first part of the symposium featured a speech by Mr. Yasuki Matsuo, Director of the Human Resources Policy Division, Science and Technology Policy Bureau, Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, who gave a talk on "Developing Policies to Diversify Career Paths for Doctoral Graduates in Japan." This was followed by a keynote speech by Mr. Kenichiro Senoo, Chairman of the NPO Japan-Academic Collaboration Organization, entitled "Developing innovative human resources and innovation in human resource development - Can you say the same things as everyone else, or can you say things differently from others?"
In the second part, as a summary of the "Establishment of a Hokkaido University Pioneer Human Resources Collaborative Development System," which has been implemented by Front Office for Human Resource Education and Development as part of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's Science and Technology Human Resource Development Subsidy Project, alumni who had participated in Internship reported on their experiences, followed by a panel discussion involving the President, Section Chief Matsuo, and Chairman Seno.
In the third part of the symposium, the Graduate School of Veterinary Medicine introduced the university's efforts in attractive university education, including the "Program for Developing Global Leaders in Veterinary Science Contributing to One Health," a doctoral education leading program that aims to "foster global human resources through graduate education with credit-based international activities."
The final part of the event was a poster session that also served as a networking event, featuring 36 posters representing 34 projects and short talks, which led to lively exchanges of opinions and information sharing among participants.
