Participant comments

  • Through the exercise, we learned that "preparation" and "visualizing opinions" are important for achieving effective facilitation.
  • The participants had the opportunity to think about what ideal facilitation is by rotating through different roles to simulate various types of meetings.
  • Up until now, I have frequently done group work in classes, but during my job hunting, I have often had to act as a facilitator, and there were many times when I was unsure of how to draw out the opinions of people in a group I had never met before. Although the time for today's exercise was short, there were many times during the internship when I had to ask for opinions in even shorter periods such as 5 minutes. Therefore, I felt that what I learned in today's exercise will be very useful in future situations where time is tight, and in actual company meetings.
  • When holding a group meeting, even if you have decided on the final goal, it is important to decide in advance how far you will go in each meeting and what to do if you don't make progress. I learned that this is very important. If something is not decided during the meeting, time will be wasted, but I think I learned the secret to holding an efficient meeting.
