We have invited three individuals who have completed graduate programs (doctoral courses) in the humanities and social sciences and are active in various career paths to serve as lecturers. They will discuss how the knowledge and education gained in graduate school in the humanities and social sciences can be utilized in society, and share insights into activities that are rarely seen within universities. There will also be individual Q&A sessions with each lecturer, so please make effective use of this opportunity to help you in your own career development.

Completed doctoral coursework at the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, University of Tokyo.
Lecture Title: "Humanities, Artificial Intelligence, and Corporations: How Cross-Boundary Connections Connect Intelligence"

Completed doctoral coursework at the University of Tokyo Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. Served as a Research Fellow at New York University Graduate School. Appointed CEO of Poetics, the provider of the business negotiation analysis AI "JamRoll".
In 2025, he sold Poetics to KnowledgeWork and joined the company. He has won six international pitch competitions, including becoming the first Asian company to win Pitch Your Startup 2018 (Luxembourg), one of Europe's largest pitch competitions. He was a guest commentator for the book "After AI" (Nikkei BP).

Kei Kohagura, Institute for Future Society Creation, Tokyo University of Science

Completed Doctoral course Studies at Doshisha University Graduate School (Doctor of Contemporary Asian Studies).
Presentation Title: "Career Development for Humanities PhDs"

Born in Okinawa in 1990. After graduating from International Christian University, he obtained Ph.D. from Doshisha University Graduate School, where he researched modern Okinawan history. During his time as a JSPS Postdoctoral Fellow, his interest shifted to worker cooperatives, and in 2021, he joined Landbrain Co., Ltd. (a regional policy consultant) through the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's Excellent Research Fellowship Program. After visiting various labor cooperatives on the ground, he established the Sakaemachi Workers' Cooperative in 2024. From 2025, he will be involved in the operation of an off-campus base of the Institute for Future Society Creation, Tokyo University of Science. His major works include "Post-Island-Wide Okinawa Post-War History" (Yushisha, 2023).

Mayumi Okada, Mitsubishi UFJ Research & Consulting Co., Ltd.

Completed Doctoral course Language and Culture Studies, Graduate School of Language and Culture Studies, Osaka University.
Presentation Title: "Fields Expanding Beyond Academia – Options for Utilizing Ph.D."

After graduating from the Faculty of Foreign Studies at Kitakyushu City University, she specialized in Japanese language education at Master's Programs and Doctoral Programs of Osaka University Graduate School. After completing her doctoral coursework, she joined Mitsubishi UFJ Research & Consulting Co., Ltd. as a new graduate, where she engaged in consulting for diverse industries including manufacturing, wholesale, and construction, primarily focusing on new business planning and operational improvement support. She obtained Ph.D. (Linguistics and Cultural Studies) one year after joining the company. She continues to utilize her expertise in the field of promoting the active participation of foreign nationals.
